We did it again! Another Telly for The Woods!

The Woods has just won its 4th National Telly Award!

In the Summer of 2015, The Woods collaborated with Iowa Remembers to produce an informational/fundraising video for the annual Iowa Remebrance Run in Des Moines. Dedicated to providing commemoration of the fallen US Veterans of the most recent armed conflicts in Iraq & Afghanistan, Iowa Remembers provides a crucial community of support to the surviving families.

Working with Kim Spurlock as Director of Photography, Chelsea Sarcone as our second camera operator, and Freddy Hall as our composer, The Woods produced a 7 1/2 minute video which garnered a Telly Award for writing and production and a second for non-profit fundraising for Iowa Remembers..!

We're very pleased at receiving this award, but honestly the highest satisfaction comes from knowing we were able to help such a worthy organization as Iowa Remembers in pursuit of their goal to give aid and comfort to the families of such brave men & women serving in our armed forces. Kudos to all and make room on the shelf - one more trophy to put there!

Happy New Year from The Woods

As we all settle into the start of 2016, The Woods is looking forward to new collaborations with Paws & Effect, the first Inwood Film Festival, and other projects still in development. It's been an exciting year - awards, new commissions, new clients, and a fancy new website. The cup runneth over. But now's the time to eat, drink, and be merry. Just don't end up like this guy...

It's Telly Award #3 for The Woods!

THE WOODS is proud to announce its most recent bling: a third 2015 Bronze Telly Award, this time for its Public Service Announcement, "Home."

Addresses the use of service dogs for veterans with PTSD

In collaboration with Paws & Effect, the Des Moines-based canine social service agency that raises and trains service dogs for US Veterans and children with autism, THE WOODS produced, wrote, directed, and edited this Telly-winning Public Service Announcement which addresses the unseen psychological traumas of some Veterans who still struggle to adjust to life back from their deployment.

Along with Kim Spurlock as our Director of Photography, Chelsea Sarcone as our 2nd Camera Operator, and Freddy Hall providing the original music, "Home," I'm very proud to continue our award-winning collaboration with this terrific organization.

Many thanks to Heather Johnson and the entire staff of the 2015 Iowa Remembrance Run.

The Woods is heading back to Iowa. Old friends and new projects await.

The Woods has a long-standing relationship with Paws & Effect, a Des Moines-based canine social services organization dedicated to providing well-trained service dogs to US Veterans and children with autism at little or no cost. In the past, we've done collaborated on promotional video, produced still photography, handled brochure design and copy, conducted many interviews with service dog trainers, recipients, and board members, and made our resources available on a variety of occasions.

Kim Spurlock and I are looking forward to returning to Des Moines in September, where we'll be interviewing a new round of service dog recipients, and we'll also be beginning a collaboration with Iowa Remembers, an organization dedicated to memorializing fallen Iowa servicemembers. Always glad to provide our services in support and acknowledgement of so many who have given so much, The Woods is happy to head back to heartland for this special project.
